I am happy with this decision. Brandon has strong political ties, heavy business experience, strong Michigan roots and played football under Bo Schembechler. This is exactly the person Michigan needed to bring in to bring the Michigan house back together and end the controversy. Brandon is a no nonsense guy. If the football program doesn't improve next year under Rich Rod, then he is out and Brandon will find a better coach.

was the package equipped with a shiny new 5 year deal at the end of next season for Jim Harbaugh??? :)

In all seriousness though, this is a very nice move, but it's a precursor move to the one coming. Harbaugh has flat stated in the past he'd never coach under Bill Martin, the former AD. He has a lot of love for his alma mater, but there was a falling out somewhere along the line. The administration at UM has seen over the past 2 seasons that Bill Martin wasn't the guy going forward, and that Michigan football was suffering. Make no mistake, this was a completely football related move. I think unless Rodriguez does something outrageous like win 10 games next season, he sees his walking papers, and Michigan makes a serious move to go get Harbaugh from Stanford.

Also, Brandon is very very close with former Wolverines HC Lloyd Carr, and this would lead one to think that Carr will still have a very profound fingerprint on the Wolverines football program, especially after next season when the Rich Rod experiment finally ends.....(we hope)

After helping pay his buyout and everything you think theyd send the Rod packing that fast?

They have to give him some time. Rich Rod is a good coach. Personally, I don't like the gimmic spread offense and I hate that Michigan is trying to use that. And I am not a Rich Rod fan in the least. But they have to give him at least one more year. I think putting a 7 win plateau on next season is needed. Tell the Rod win 7 or you're outta here. If he can't get it done, then bring in Harbaugh or try to get Les Miles from LSU.
If I had the choice, I would fire Rich Rod right away and bring in Harbaugh and get back to true Michigan football.

In my opinion, it looked like the fan base was what any fan base is....extremely fickle. They loved him before the season and during the 4 game winning streak to start the season.....why wouldn't they? They were winning LOL!!! You didn't hear very much from them as far as supporting him during the last half of the season. The spread doesn't work without the proper personnel. Why was Meyer so successful at Florida? He got the athletic speedsters in the South! If you're a top recruit from the South, are you going to go up north to play in a spread offense in the snow? Or are you going to stay at home at Florida/Alabama/Georgia/Florida St./Miami and play in the sun?

The problem is, the people who support Michigan's athletic programs, the BOOSTERS, don't like the black eye that he's put on the program. Keep in mind, never before in the storied history of this program has this happened. No coach has ever done worse than 4-5 in his first season on the job. No coach has ever brought this much negative attention onto the program. He's got a laundry list of problems he's brought to Ann Arbor with him, and I think unless something miraculous happens, we'll see a new coach after next season.
