Darrin McFadden - are you buying a comeback?

sometimes you have a talented guy coming back from an underwhelmimg season.....sometimes tjey are tryimg to comeback and overcome an injury prone past....with DMac you get the rare shot at the comeback double.

Even when he was healthy last year....which was a major issue again, he was not effective. the switch to a zone blo
ckig run scheme was a bust for his skills. so the risk with him is great.

Enter 2013, a new offense that should fit him better and anothet new QB. His valye is as low as it has been in years, which does create potential opportunity...but his price is still high enough yhere is significant risk in spending a 3rd on him. the upside is huge as well, when productive, he can put up top 5 numbers....

He'll be on my team this year but as a keeper costing an 8th.

Don't think I'd go 3rd of 4th in a redraft depending on how hard the RBs were being hit.

My reality check bounced.
You made the most valid point. The new offensive scheme is all that matters. Runners like DMC and Chris Johnson have both failed in a zone blocking scheme due to their shifty running style. IF* McFadden stays healthy for a full year he is with out a doubt top 5 material. If you're drafting late in the 1st round and have a target like Calvin fall to you, I for one will take my chances on McFadden at his late ADP. I also have a style most don't follow and take high risk high reward players. If it hits, you're hitting big. Just make sure you're protecting yourself with his long line of injury history.

i like your style, especially if you play it safe with solid low risk guys in the first couple, swinging for the fences in the 3rd sounds like something i am all over.

i have been pulling for faddy since he came out of college and he just drops off further each year. I am not on that train anymore though it would make me happy to see him healthy and productive. I took a chance on him th hired guns because I am desperate lol

I am not one to predict injury, but hard to look the other way regarding McFadden.

In addition, the Raiders totally suck. Maybe the least talented team in football. New blocking scheme won't matter if you can't keep the box from being stacked and the blocking is sub par.

I would think even the risk takers wouldn't jump until late 5th or so.

See, this is the issue I have with that statement :"I am not one to predict injury..."

Why? I am not predicting anything. If you have a player, who has a HISTORY of getting hurt, and is fragile...then you are not predicting it, you are preparing for it.

For whatever reason, build, style of play, dumb bad luck, certain guys just get hurt. I love the "potential" of Amendola in N.E. However, I know he will get hurt, he just goes all out and gets hurt, and so that potential is too much to risk at that high of a pick.

I am shocked at how high he has gone in the IBL drafts....wasted pick IMO

Not true, D-Mac will run well in the non-zone blocking scheme injury's is his worst enemy, the fact that he is in a contract year carries no weight

Yeah, you are predicting injury if you are totally staying away from him due to past injury history since you are pretty much saying that he will get hurt and you aren't going to draft him for that reason. Preparing would be taking a chance, but making damn sure you have his handcuff.

In the case of McFadden, predicting or preparing for injury, I just couldn't take him anywhere close to his ADP. Besides the injury factor, I just don't think he will be that good in that offense. Lot of eyes will be on him on since they don't have any other real threats.

Why do you think that? Have they improved the OL? They better have because that box is gonna be stacked.

I don't see a new scheme making a lot of difference unless they can block.

I was just in trade talks with a guy in IBL this morning, and he axually said, "Dmac is no riskier than Sjax is at age 30 (with an injury history of his own)."

Sometimes this game is just too easy.

Really no different than a player like Spiller. Its not like there's much to get excited about in the rest of the offense.

I really think its about 98% injury concerns that keep McFadden right where hes at in ADP

OK. Yeah that's a dumb statement.

I have my concerns with Sjax too, but to say that he and McFadden are of the same danger level is ridiculous.

Well, Spiller averaged 6 YPC in 2012 and McFadden 3.3. Maybe Spiller is just way more talented at this point in their careers.........

Oh wait, Oakland is going away from the zone blocking scheme, so that will fix everything..............
