Dante Wesley: WTF?

No good reason! Division rivalry showing its ugly side. I'm just glad he was ejected from the game for this hit.
 
I agree. There HAS to be something more to this, like he called his mother a whore or something, but this is almost akin to assault. The league needs to be severe on this.
 
Okay, maybe this won't be considered well...but...

First what I see is a guy who broke free and was at full speed, and the blockers practically directed him AT the receiving guy. I then see a moment where he decided that since he was going to make contact anyways.....might as well make it count. This does not mean I condone it...just what I see. Now, for the kicker...please note he went in with his shoulder...not his helmet. Granted he went high...and as such deserves to be kicked out of the game, and suspended or fined. Still, it could have been a whole lot worse.
 
As Phicinfan said at least he didn't lead with his helmet. Did he have a brain fart or was it one of the dirtiest plays I've ever seen? Perhaps a combination of both. Yes he should miss some games.
 
ESPN.com reports Carolina Panthers CB Dante Wesley was suspended one game without pay for his hit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
 
Sad that they only see it warrents one game. Shows the NFL isn't worried about cleaning it up for real. If that had of been Peyton ar Brady getting the illegal shot things would have been much different.
 
at least they suspended him.....I'll take that as a step in the right direction for the NFL.
 
Yeah, but Clifton lived to tell his own story so there's no real motivation to take further action. In addition to last week's 85 vs. Lewis hit... how many additional hits like this took place during the first 5 weeks of this season?

It'd be interesting to keep count of these as a whole. If each hit is handled separately as isolated incidents than we'll be on the slow boat to China for weeks.
