Dallas RB situation

What do the outlaws make of the Dallas situation? Is Barber the man? Is this a RBBC nightmare? How much work does Felix Jones get this year? Is Tashard Choice a forgotten man, or can he push for significant carries as well?

Where do you draft them? Do you spend a late first or early 2nd on Barber? Where do you starting thinking about the other two at?

How do you view this situation....

Oh boy. This thread is going to be a disaster.

I don't know what to make of Dallas. I think they will run the ball more this year, but how those carries get divided, I have no clue.

Barber is still #1, but how many carries does that equal??

Jeez. If anyone can figure this one out, they're a genius.

Barber @ #1 with at least over 50% of the carries and still a valid #1 fantasy RB.

Jones will definitely get the opportunity to contribute on a regular basis but how much of an impact will depend on how he holds up. He is worth an early mid-round selection but will likely be taken earlier if he does well during preseason.

Choice remains the #3 but will get only limited opportunities unless something happens to either of the other 2. He is a late round flyer at this stage.

Cooley, how high would you take Barber? Does he crack first round? Or more of a 2nd round guy for you?

60/40 Barber to Jones is my guess. Choice gets scraps.

Nope.

If Jones is there in the late fifth - early sixth, I'm considering him. Won't draft Choice.

With Felix's raw ability, he could make nice value in a ppr league. I'm not the biggest Barber fan and if he's dropping into the second, I'm apt to trade out... hopefully to a Cowboys fan.

In some of the mocks I've been doing I have gone WR/WR drafting from the #12 spot in a serpentine so I have not been taking him. From an earlier slot I would probably have enough players ranked ahead of him that he would fall at least into the 2nd.

Your timing is incredible. I just read a guy's take on this who blogs on the Boys. He raised in interesting set of options on how this could turn out. The Cliff Notes are:

The offense runs about 60 plays on average the last two years.

The offense on average splits run/pass about 48/52% respectively.

These are nearly exact to the 2008 Giants offensive split on both categories. The similarities between Barber and Jacobs can't be ignored. Ward and Jones is a bit of a stretch but the speed is there. Both Jacobs and Ward registered 1k yards on about 14 carries/game.

Jerry Jones mentioned twice how Felix Jones (no relation) will be integrated into the system both in running and especially in passing situations.

Felix Jones' game is comparable to a young Tiki Barber.

So the potential of having an identical split in carries for Barber and Jones to Jacobs/Ward of 2008 is likely. Jones' talent is greater than Ward so it is also possible that he is integrated more in the passing game, maybe 5-8 catches per game.

So take that for what it's worth but I like the analogy of re-creating the 2008 Giants runningback situations with Choice filling the role of Bradshaw. The Tiki comparison is a bit of a stretch at this point in Jones' career. He saw Jones slowly moving Barber aside like Tiki did to Jiggles Dayne back in 2000.

60/40 may be the break down between Barber/Jones & Choice. I could see Choice being used to a low double digit percentage - scraps but consistent scraps.

In the 5th/6th, during mocks at least, there have been other RBs available that I would take before Jones but I will expect that would be his ADP by the time preseason is in full swing.

Whether to draft Choice depends on depth... He may be picked more consistently during preseason for the same reasons Jones will get a bump but there is not much reason at this point to put much value on him.

Barber will be off the board in 9 picks max. I honestly think if your choice is between him or a top WR in PPR leagues you take the WR.

If you have not read this yet, it's worth a read. Very nice breakdown and good use of similar situations. Not sure I agree with all, but you can tell this guy is in the Pro-Felix camp.

What is amazing is how much Barber load increased last year. From 15 touches a game to around 25!! And his YPC suffered greatly. If will be interesting to see how much they dial Barber back and if it has the effect that many hope.

Okay I will admit it, I have not read all the other responses....so if this is a repeat of someone else.....sorry.

Basically this year will be rinse and repeat. Barber will be the main cog, with Felix Jones as the change of pace. Yes I do believe Choice will be the odd guy out...but I also bet Barber misses time again...which will then cause Choice to BE choice.

Okay as for numbers...I see a similar year for barber...but I see an uptick for F.Jones in a PPR format.
