From rotoworld,
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated Thursday that he's eager to sign restricted free agent Miles Austin to a long-term deal.

Jerry's son, executive VP Stephen Jones, wasn't ready to talk about a long-term extension for Austin after his NFL record 421 yards in his first two starts. Austin's dominant performance in the second half of the season erased all doubts, however. His agent can start with Roy Williams' ludicrous five-year, $45 million deal and go from there. This may take a while. I hear Austin wants the same kind of money they are paying Roy williams. Don't know if Dallas wants that much money tied up at Wr or not.

rotoworld,

Unsigned restricted free agent Miles Austin would not say Wednesday when he will sign his tender.

Nothing has transpired regarding a long-term deal for the Pro Bowl receiver, according to ESPN.com. So just like so many other restricted free agents, Austin will eventually sign his one-year tender, earn his $3.168 million, and angle for a big deal next offseason. This situation won't affect Austin in 2010.

If i could be the Cowboys GM. for a day, R.Williams would be looking for new surroundings and M.Austin would get a salary bump, Dallas needs to lock Austin up with a high dollar multi-year contract

This is what the Cowboys starting WR's should be

Miles Austin as #1 take a chance on Dez Bryant at #2 put Patrick Crayton in the slot.

Try to move Roy Williams now to get some value out of him.

The Dallas Morning News reports Monday that Cowboys WR Miles Austin continues to focus on the field and not about earning a contract extension. He said that's out of his hands and up to his agent and owner Jerry Jones. "Jerry is the guy you need to speak to about that," Austin said. "I'm doing my part and that's working hard and trying to get better to help the team." Austin said he is not planning a holdout in training camp. "No, not at all," Austin said. "I mean, like I said, I'm just in here to work. I'm just working to get better. Whatever the situation, I still have to work and become a better player regardless."

rotoworld,
Cowboys beat writer Todd Archer predicts that Miles Austin will have a new long-term contract by October.

Archer points out that both Austin and LT Doug Free are in contract years, and will be strong candidates for the 2011 franchise tag if one of them isn't locked up. Austin would cost less to franchise than Free next spring, but he's shown more recently. The Cowboys wouldn't be able to afford losing both.
