Competition is in the air for Packers starting RB job.

Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant said Monday, July 11, that he feels there will be an open competition for the starting tailback job once the lockout is resolved. 'From what I've heard, that''s the conversation that was told to me,' Grant said in a radio interview. 'I do believe there will be competition, which is fine. I'm all for that.' Grant is expected to compete with RB James Starks, who emerged as the featured back during the team's postseason run.

Grant more an all around back, so I see him winning this competition. But Starks will cut into his playing time.

A perfect storm for the Packers. They will have three highly motivated guys trying to keep the Offensive Coordinator from simply throwing it into the endzone or handing off to Kuhn. Grant might be kind of a "one stop shop" option beings he catches the ball well. Starks doesn't have rocks for hands and amny don't realize that. Alex Green is the biggest and fastest of them all and he will be a fine change of pace receiving option. They should be very strong on the ground when they want to be, and still be able to keep the Defense guessing.

To me, this report wreaks of propaganda.

I see NO WAY that Grant is the RB1 in Green Bay this year and believe he will disappear by next year.

Got no quotes or data to support this notion, I just think Grant is finished.

I don't agree with most here. Grant can be a special back. He has proven it in the past. If he is really healthy, I don't see Starks or Green taking it away. Now, I think this may be the last year on his contract....so he also may be playing for his next contract whereever...so that is added incentive. Not sure on that though....
