Boldin will want to go to a team that has a chance to get deep in the playoffs the 49ers arent even close to that point yet
Hmmmmmm. You must be confusing them with the other Bay Area team.
They will go into 2010 as the favorite in the West. A very good defense that finished 5th (or close to it) in points allowed in 2009 and getting better. A CB or safety with one of their first rounders and they are looking good.
Offensively, IF (big if) they get "above average" play from Smith (or McNabb :grin
, they will put up points. Excellent group of skill position players with Crabtree, Davis, Morgan, Gore AND Boldin. While their line sucked last year, it is not without talent. They will address the RT spot with an early pick, which is their big weakness. Staley, Baas, Heithman and Rachel are all solid and hopefully will benefit from SF not telegraphing their plays like they did last year. Believe it or not, they actually talk about working on that. :headscratch: Solid backups in Sims, Wragge and Snyder (guard, not tackle).
And then there is the Coaching. They lost several close games (Vikings , Seahawks and Colts in particular) because of bad coaching decisions. Either being too conservative and not closing out when they had a chance (Vikings) or just lame play calling when you should have overpowered them (Seahawks). I think Singletary will be more comfortable this season and having the same OC for the 2nd season will help as well.
Boldin will go to the team that Arizona trades him to. I think he would enjoy playing in SF with the atmosphere and chemistry they are putting together. To say SF isn't "even close" to having a team to go deep into the playoffs is foolish. Fix the RT position, add a DB and get solid play from Smith and they can beat anybody. Some work to do? Sure. But they are way past "not even close".............
Looking forward to 2010..................:xpopcorn:
