Marques Colston will start training camp on the active/PUP list after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee to correct a "lingering" issue during the offseason.

It's not known exactly when Colston underwent the procedure. GM Mickey Loomis insists it's nothing serious, and Colston is expected to pass his physical soon. It doesn't sound like a major concern for the Saints, but this is a story to track in training camp. Colston's fantasy value has survived a past scope in addition to a microfracture procedure, but the multiple knee surgeries are a red flag for his long-term value. Jul. 29 -

cbssports.com,
A day after the Saints put WR Marques Colston on the physically unable to perform list while he recovers from offseason arthroscopic knee surgery, the tall receiver was spotted working in individual drills. He did not appear to be hindered by his injury. The Saints hope he's ready to get after it in about a week.

Analysis: A good sign, but Colston's surgery should serve as a reminder that the receiver is far from the picture of health. He has had just two seasons where he's played in 16 games and he's never started 16 games in his four years in the league. We'll keep tabs on this for you, but we're expecting Colston to be fine for the start of the season and probably play in a few preseason games along the way. For now, he remains a No. 1 Fantasy WR worth a pick between late Round 2 and early Round 4 in all leagues.

cbssports.com,
Saints head coach Sean Payton said Monday that he expects WR Marques Colston to be activated Tuesday from the physically unable to perform list. He has been working his way back from offseason arthroscopic knee surgery, working in individual drills.

Analysis: Colston was never a serious candidate to miss the regular season and we expected him to see preseason action all along. The knee problem is a bit of a concern but Colston has barreled through with knee issues before. He should be fine and thus remains a No. 1 Fantasy WR worth a pick between late Round 2 and early Round 4 in all leagues.

rotoworld,
Marques Colston's offseason arthroscopic surgery was to his right knee, not the same one that was repaired with a microfracture procedure the previous year.

It's an important distinction, as Colston had already undergone two procedures to the left knee. He came off the active/PUP list as expected Tuesday and participated in a full practice. Though Colston feels 100 percent physically, the Saints are expected to ease him back in slowly over the next couple of weeks. He remains a Top-15 fantasy option.
