The Bearcats came up with a huge win Thursday night, but at what cost? Starting QB Tony Pike has suffered an injury to his left forearm, the same injury that cost him his season last year. He has been playing with a plate and six screws in his arm, and that plate has apparently shifted. He will be out next week for sure and possibly much longer. It is unknown if surgery is required at this point. This is an unfortunate turn of events for what was one of the nice stories in this CFB season. Pike was having a great season and was even in Heisman conversations.
No. 8 Bearcats take down No. 21 Bulls in Tampa; Pike injured - NCAA College Football Recap - ESPNCoach Brian Kelly said Pike, who broke his left forearm last season and played with a plate and six screws that are still in place, will miss Cincinnati's next game, at home Oct. 24 against Louisville.
"The plate that's in there has shifted," Kelly said, adding that it has not been determined if the injury will require surgery. Pike will be examined by a specialist on Friday.
