COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Stefanie Spielman, the wife of NFL and Ohio State star Chris Spielman who led a public fight against breast cancer, died Thursday after a lengthy battle with the disease. She was 42.
Stefanie Spielman died at the family's home in Upper Arlington, surrounded be her family, said WBNS radio in Columbus, where Chris Spielman co-hosts a show.
"Stefanie has gone home to be with the Lord," Chris Spielman said in a statement released by the station. "For that, we celebrate, but with broken hearts. I want to thank everyone for their support over the last 12 years. Together, with your help, hopefully we made a difference in this fight."

It's a tragic loss for one so young. The family is in my prayers. Breast cancer is an awlful disease, men can get it too tho many don't know that.

I have to go on a short rant here though so forgive me if this thread is the wrong place for such. This young lady dies at 42 years young. She'd been fighting the disease for 12 years meaning since she was 30. Only this week our government came out with a reccommendation that women hold off on mammograms until the age of 50 instead of the long held belief that they should start at 40. WHY?? IMO it's a step to save money on the up-coming national health scam that is working its way thru Congress. The government should not be involved in health care. Their track record with medicare plainly shows that.

This is very sad news. I watched my wife go through her bout with breast cancer 7 years ago (she was 47) and cannot imagine going through it for 12 years.
