Chris Johnson's TD last night

Does anyone care that it happened in garbage time when they were ahead?

I'm just curious because there is an entire thread at another forum where people are arguing about it and wanted to know the SO's opinion on this.

Garbage time points happen all the time. Even in gambling situations where a team covers by scoring in garbage time. I have CJ in a league and it didnt help my team because I was ahead enough but it wouldnt have bothered me either way. Honestly, people stratergize to have a team their guy is going against go up by so many points that the other team has to start passing so they will play that WR as oppose to another. Like when the Colts were scoring so many points that the other team had to pass every down creating more passing oppournities for QB/WR/TE.

In the CJ situation I see it a little differently than most other "run it up" situations.

Tennessee was clearly trying to pad 1 player's stats. Maybe the Titans players are ok with this but it seems to me like the whole "Get CJ His 100 yds" would have a demoralizing effect on the team, especially the offensive linemen.

A guy busts his butt for 3 quarters to help his team to a healthy lead and instead of getting a breather and letting a young lineman get some work, he has to go back out there so "Chrissy Poo" can get his 100.

From a "Professional Football" perspective, it just seems wrong.

From a fantasy perspective and as a CJ owner, it's cool to know your guy is gonna 100 every week.

If he'd have gotten 2 more in the final 2 minutes it would have helped me. I was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind in my matchups.

Don't care at all.....pts are pts and you are paid to stop the guy in the NFL. If the clock still has time on it, he is still able to rack up pts.

Exactly as Miller said. But I am confused.... What is the argument exactly??? Like, if your player scores in the last 5 minutes and your up by 10, they should not count the points???

This happens EVERY week! Last week, a guy in my league was down 7 points, with only the jets D and under 2 mins left, when Favre threw that INT returned for a TD beauty!

Im sure somebody got burned by that Sims Walker TD in like week 2, when the jags were getting killed by like 30 points and Garrad hit him for a TD with under a minute.

No issue. Just think it was stupid for him to be in the game at that point when he already had 25 or so touches. Never know when a player can get hurt. He was shut down all night until then. Guy is obviously a Prima Donna or Ringer would have been in to run out the clock.

I also don't understand why the Jags were calling time outs at that point, but were taking their time when they actually had an outside chance to win. Guess it was the genius of Del Rio..........

Going to have to do disagree with you efactor. I mean, yes, you never know when anybody can get hurt, but CJ? Prima Donna? I dont know about that. I dont think that Fisher or the titans staff went to him and said "Hey! Your not going in there!" and he threw a hissy fit.

Else, this is going to become that "Why was NWE running up the score" versus "If you dont want them to score, YOU have to stop them debate". I mean, if your upset about this, what about when Eli Manning THREW that TD pass to Steve Smith two weeks ago in a game Giants were up 27-10 with under 5 minutes left. It happens all the time in the NFL.

Frankly, I could give a fock. Just think it's stupid to have your stars in the game, especially a RB, who is more prone to injury when you have the game wrapped up with two minutes to play. He was in to pad his stats, plain and simple, which in my mind, makes him a Prima Donna. I doubt Fisher wanted him in the game at that point. They did the same thing last year when he was going for the record. It's all about the stats, which is just a sign of the time I guess.

It may happen all the time, but it's still lame as far as real football goes. Great for FF though...................
