Chris Henry, changed man?? Where does he rank on your sleeper list?

Palmer has been praising him all offseason. He states he has learned from his past and is committed to football. His talent is obvious.....so where does he rank for you in sleeper terms? Is he a guy you won't touch? May, just depends on what your team looks like and if the price is right? Or is he a guy you are targeting and feel is ready to break out?

Here is a good article on him:

I have more Chris Henry faith than most. He's in a prime spot right now to have a great season. I think he's got that #2 spot locked up.

This team is going to be sneaky good this year. They're better on O and D than the casual fans know.

Shall we start the Cincy bandwagon right here, right now Miller?

As of right now, I like Henry's potential 2009 stat line better than a flighty Ochocinco and a fragile Coles.

ER, you're not alone on your faith in Chris Henry. I too think he will be good this year and probably end up as the best WR on that team. I'll go after him if the price is right. His talent is there. I may lose out if he does something dumb again, but risk/reward is a no brainer.

I can agree with this as long as it is based on value of where he is going to be drafted. I would no draft him ahead of Chad or Lav but would take him if he fell to me after someone else took the bigger names.

Henry will be a product of how healthy and happy Chad and coles are. If the offense plays as expected...Henry will be #3 wr...but will be outside with Coles taking the T.J. role on the three wr sets. The funny part is...if Henry really is back...that makes Chad better...as defenses can no longer key on chad from the deep route.

But until I see Henry in a game...i am not a believer yet.

Bengals | Caldwell working team's slot receiver Thu Jun 11, 01:27 PM
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Andre Caldwell has been working a lot as the slot receiver during offseason workouts and could emerge as a third-down receiver.
Our view: Over the past 3 seasons T.J. Houshmandzadeh has caught around 30% of the Bengals passes. With Housh gone to Seattle the Bengals are expecting guys like Andre Caldwell to take their game to the next level. Caldwell has good hands, is very elusive in the open field, and he is a savvy route runner. With Chad Ochocinco and Laveranues Coles locked into the top 2 spots, a guy like Caldwell could prove his value as a slot receiver. He will compete with Chris Henry and Jerome Simpson for that job.

Any idea how the #2 - #4 WR billets fill out?

Have not followed Cincy much lately but I thought Simpson was still ahead of him (thought they were intended to take over #1 and #2 as the big names moved out for better money when they were drafted).

Coles definitely changed that from happening but the resurgence of Henry seems likely to push at least 1 of them to the bench long-term.

Dont forget Quan Cosby if your league does points for kick and punt returns.

For the question, Im banking on Henry to take the 3 spot and put up some decent numbers as bye week filler for your top 3.

Problem for Quan is the numbers game. He's going to have to be damn impressive to crack the top 5 to be active on game day, not just as a returner but as a receiver as well. They have been working Bernard Scott in on returns as well to see if he can step up.

I am not so sure here Miller. I agree there will be a numbers game. But I think the wr that drops isn't Quan. If he shows any speed or talent...I think he takes over and Chatman and Urrutria are gonners.

I'll put it on the board that IF he keeps his nose clean and stays relatively healthy, Henry leads Cincy in receiving TD's in 2009.

Palmer's got more familiarity with him than Coles, and made a point of praising Henry while expressing discontent at CJ's absence during OTA's.

6 will stick on the active roster, 5 for game day roster.
COC
Coles
Henry
Caldwell
Simpson
I think those 5 are somewhat safe, that leaves one spot. You have Chatman, Cosby, Orton, Purify, Richmond & Urritia on the roster. As you stated, it comes down to can a UFA rookie like Cosby take a spot from Chatman or Urritia?

But that is just for a roster spot, now it comes down to my actual statement, that Cosby is going to have to show something as a receiver as well to crack that top 5 and be ACTIVE on gameday. The top 4 will be active when healthy, so it comes down to Simpson or the 6th WR.......will be a tough nut to crack.

My guess is that Chatman sticks, Cosby ends up on PS. Weekly decision for Marv on Chat or Simpson for thr 5th WR spot. Cos could impress and taake Chat's spot and be in that smae boat.

Take Urritia off that list, just got cut this weekend. 6th spot looking to come down to a TC battle between the vet Chatman and the UFA rookie Cosby.

Miller, am I way off base in stating that the pecking order will be Chad/Lav, then Henry, then Coffman, then flip a coin?

OTA's and such can give a small amount of insight, but when the shyte hits the fan and the snaps are real, won't this essentially be the way it shakes out?

May be a little early to put Coffman 4th....he's just getting on the field due to an eariler injury.

If you are looking at a pecking order in terms of looks, I'd say the top 3 will be COC, Coles, Henry.....then Utecht/Caldwell/3rd down RB (whoever wins that spot).

Coffman will have an opportunity to take that spot from Utecht.

Right now the battle for #3 wr is between Henry and Caldwell. Caldwell has done great in OTAs and is quite a neat route runner. They love him in the slot and underneath.

Oh, and Coffman won't even be starting TE.

  • -- Laveranues Coles Could Catch 70 Passes this Season --
    Mon Jun 22, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
  • SI.com's Peter King believes WR Laveranues Coles might be the perfect receiver to replace WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh in Cincinnati, because Coles, who hates to talk to the press, is glad to cede all the interviews to Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco while he just plays. Coles is healthy now. If QB Carson Palmer can stay upright, Coles is going to catch 70 balls, easy.
