Chiefs Part Ways With RB Kolby Smith

Kansas City waived Smith on Monday, KCChiefs.com reports. Smith has had a couple of opportunities to make his mark in Kansas City, but health issues (he ended each of the last two seasons on injured reserve) and a lack of explosiveness (career 3.3 yards per carry) ultimately prevented him from becoming anything more than a bit player for the Chiefs. By cutting him loose well before training camp, Kansas City gives Smith the chance to catch on with another team.

This will open the door for rookie Dexter McCluster to move up to the #3 RB spot over Jackie Battle who ever he is

Kolby played his part for fantsy owners a couple of years back when he was a short term steal off of the waiver wires. Now his time is done even if he manages to catch on with another club.
