rotoworld,
Chargers GM A.J. Smith met with unsigned restricted free agent LT Marcus McNeill at the team's practice facility on Wednesday.

While it's believed the visit produced "nothing tangible," it could be a sign that one the of the sides is budging. McNeill has skipped all spring and summer workouts in hopes of landing a new contract. Without him, the Chargers are sitting on the NFL's worst left tackle situation east of Buffalo. The meeting was reportedly requested by McNeill's side, but there's no question who has the leverage here. It's Philip Rivers' two-time Pro Bowl blindside protector.

Perhaps a thawing within management over the LT will lead to just that Mills. But I'm not holding my breath until it happens.

Need to get VJax signed.
:nono:
I have read from multiple sources that they really feel they can live without Jackson. I don't get it, but that is the belief. However, after much work and quick signings, they clearly can't solve the LT issue. Which directly effects Rivers.

I see them caving somewhat with McNeil, but I don't see Jackson getting a deal. Just my opinion though...

If a deal can't be reached... they need to ship him elsewhere... Pats perhaps?
IMO, teams in dire need of Jackson's ability:

Denver - but won't happen as same division.
Buffalo - Yikes for Jackson
Browns - is Massaquoi a #1 dunno:
Pittsburgh - to replace Holmes dunno:
Jacksonville - help finally develop Qb
Washington - this would be a deal Snyder would chase with gusto!
Carolina - Opposite S.Smith...this would be sick!
Tampa Bay - to help develop young Qb and Wrs dunno:
St. Louis - Dire need for a solid Wr for rookie Qb

Really good break down PhiCin and I doubt there's much chance he'd be headed to New England. Of those that you named I'd love to see either Carolina or, well I'd like it to be Carolina.

rotoworld,
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are "nowhere close" to getting holdout LT Marcus McNeill into camp despite Wednesday's face-to-face meeting with GM A.J. Smith.

McNeill isn't actually considered a "holdout" because he's not officially under contract, but it's all the same to us. The two-time Pro Bowler's visit to Chargers headquarters Wednesday obviously didn't do anything to end the stalemate. Philip Rivers' blind-side protection remains a major concern. The Bolts have again resorted to shuffling bodies at the left tackle position. It doesn't look like Brandyn Dombrowski will be the answer.

Chargers GM gets even tougher.

rotoworld,
Chargers placed unsigned restricted free agents Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill on the roster exempt list.

GM A.J. Smith continues to play hardball. The players currently withholding services were sent letters informing them of the Chargers' plans to invoke a three-game suspension, applicable upon signing their tenders. That brings Jackson's total to six games under suspension if he does sign. The Seahawks have recently spoken with Jackson's agent, but demands to surpass Brandon Marshall's four-years, $46.5 million have caused a stalemate. San Diego's asking price of a second-round pick is not believed to be an issue.

cbssports.com,
While rumors persist that the Chargers are open to trading WR Vincent Jackson, the team has placed him on their roster exempt list. That means Jackson must serve a three-game suspension from the time he signs a contract, be it with the Chargers or someone else. Jackson, a restricted free agent, has held out in hopes of getting a long-term contract. The Chargers gave permission to the Seahawks to speak to Jackson about a deal, but the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the Seahawks balked at Jackson's asking price, so no deal is imminent. The Union-Tribune also noted that Jackson can serve his roster exempt suspension concurrently with his three-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. So if Jackson signed before Week 1, no further suspension would accrue past Week 3.

Analysis: Here's what you need to know: Jackson won't play in Weeks 1 through 3 no matter what. In order to accrue credit for a season, he has to be on a roster for six games; failure to do that would result in not earning a year toward free agency. So Jackson will eventually report. The catch is, if he doesn't sign a deal before Week 1, he'll have to serve another three-game suspension, and that might force him to sign a contract before Week 8. The situation is real fluid, and the only thing that's clear is that without a trade and a quick deal, Jackson won't play much in 2010. He's worth a middle- to late-round pick (maybe as soon as Round 9 -- maybe) as a gamble that he'll end up outside of San Diego and be useful starting in Week 4, but the closer the season gets, the more unlikely that could be. We'll keep you posted on his news.

That's what I thought, let him talk to the Seahawks and ask for 9 million dollars a year and hear them say " What, Are you crazy?"
