Celek-100 receptions this season?

rotoworld,
Brent Celek is guaranteed at least 75 catches this season, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Celek and new Eagles QB Kevin Kolb are best friends, and it reportedly showed during minicamps. The two were in sync all spring and others have speculated that Celek could push for 100 catches. We're not going that far, but Celek did catch 76 balls last year. He's a rock solid TE1 that fantasy owners can wait on in drafts.

100 catches seems unlikely to me but there's no doubt Celek is one of the many rising TE's in fantasy play.

Very solid #1 TE next year, but 100 receptions? He's not Dallas Clark, and that's the end of that. 85 receptions is the most I could honestly see him making next year, and that's stretching it. Regardless of Kolb and Celek's relationship, I actually think Celek will catch less balls this year than last year, but not by much.

Where did this guy even come from? I so wasn't targeting him as a #1 TE, a backup maybe for depth..but holy cow! A coach in my league got a steal on this guy. Very athletic and the Eagles have a way of feeding the TE the ball.

I'm thinking around 70 receptions this year

See, that's about where I'd pin him as well. This is the news that I read about an hour ago:

"Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek said he expects to have at least 75 receptions this season, according to Jeff McLane, of the Philadelphia Inquirer."

I am predicting 85+ catches / 1,000+ yards / 10 TDs for 2010

Celek is a monster

I'm with you on this one RH.

Kolb is a better downfield passer than Mc Nabb and the friendship is more likely to hinder his production. Can't let the locker room start grumbling about "QB's Pet".

I can't see that many targets to Celek, not with Maclin, Jackson and Avant and others out there. Still, he will get his fair share, and alot of looks in the red zone for sure!

In Kolb's two starts last year Celek averaged over 100 yards per contest... if he's open why not throw him the ball?

Celek had 16 receptions for 208 yards and a TD in the 2 games his buddy Kolb started last year. I know its a small sample size but I got a feeling this guys stats go up across the board this season.

rotoworld,
Brent Celek finished second among tight ends last season in catches of 20 yards or more.

Only Antonio Gates (18) had more plays of 20 yards or more than Celek (16). The Eagles are going back to a more traditional West Coast passing scheme under Kevin Kolb, but the seam will still be open for Celek. Kevin Kolb's roomate on the road is set up to build on last year's breakout.
