rotoworld,
Third-round WR Brandon LaFell is considered the "heir apparent" to Muhsin Muhammad as the starter opposite Steve Smith.

Muhammad was a big receiver with a willingness to block in the Panthers' run-heavy attack. LaFell shares the same traits. Dwayne Jarrett may still be number one on the depth chart, but the Charlotte Observer calls LaFell "clearly the man to watch."

rotoworld,
ESPN's John Clayton expects rookies Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards to play with Steve Smith in three-wide receiver sets this season.

Despite being passed on the depth chart by Kenneth Moore last season, Dwayne Jarrett will be in the training camp mix as a "veteran" option. Jarrett has shown nothing as a pro, however, whereas LaFell and Edwards are already turning heads in minicamp. Clayton calls converted QB Edwards possibly "the steal of the draft."

This was probably the most interesting news item of the day. Finally, hopefully, the Panthers are wiping the #2 and # 3 WR slate clean.

rotoworld,
Panthers beat writer Darin Gantt expects Kenneth Moore to take Steve Smith's (broken arm) place with the first-team offense in training camp.

He'd be getting the nod over promising rookie Armanti Edwards, indicating the Panthers are focusing on letting Edwards learn the slot rather than split end. While we don't have high hopes for Moore's fantasy stock, it's a big opportunity for the former Wake Forest Demon Deacon. Rookie Brandon LaFell will continue to push Dwayne Jarrett to start at flanker.

I smell a T.O. sighting soon...............................................

cbssports.com,
Rookie WR Brandon LaFell is back on the field Monday after sitting out Sunday with a sore leg. It appears his right groin is the source of his problems as it remains wrapped, but he's still out there working.

Analysis: LaFell's return means we can continue keeping an eye on him. He had a bang-up spring and is a legit contender to start opposite Steve Smith in Carolina this season. LaFell remains a potential late-round Fantasy flier in the deepest of seasonal formats on Draft Day and a second-round pick in rookie-only drafts. He has the potential to be a decent WR for the Panthers this year and a quality WR for them in the future.
