The NFL Network reports QB Carson Palmer signed a restructured four-year contract with the Oakland Raiders that will pay him $2.5 million for the rest of this year, $12.5 million in 2012, $13 million in 2013 and $15 million in 2014.

Typical Raiders move, mortgaging the future for a year or two of potential production. Huge move for the Bengals, they lose a disaffected player who was more or less gone already, and likely land a 10-year tackle or something with the resulting picks.

We finally get a pulse from DHB, then the guy who started to click with him goes out; does Palmer click with him, or someone else, or does he flame out?

Clearly the Raiders think they have a shot at making some moves in the playoffs and perhaps beyond, so the new leadership makes a move akin to the previous leadership. But....this move reeks of desperation, not brash hubris....

This is really becoming a bit insane.

Generally speaking, I like the acquisition for Oakland.

It's easy for me to be swept up in the fairy tale story that "could" result from this.

But what are the chances?

Whatever they are, they aren't worth what it cost Oakland.

But I'm secretly hoping that Palmer will shine.

I agree,

Give Palmer a few high percentage routes and win the game on the ground, where it's safe.

One has to wonder how this affects the finally sudden emergence of heywood-bey. He is supposedly the receiver putting in extra time with Plamer........who knows?

And what happens to ole whats his name when he comes back from injury? Signing of CP was his death notice from team? No way they carry 4 qbs. And what about Pryor? Didint they spend alot of money and time on him? Whats there plan with him now?

After the Redskins acquired Donovan McNabb, Campbell was traded to the Oakland Raiders on April 24, 2010 for a fourth round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. On the same day, Campbell received a one-year contract extension through the 2011 season

Ah, so they don't have that much in him but a valuable pick. Oakland sure does like to give their picks away. What they have, 1 pick next year in the late rounds? More this is coming out, sure hope CP performs at a high standard once again so it doesnt make them look silly"again". If he's doesn't pan out, Oaklands in trouble for years to come w/o having draft picks.

Don't get me wrong here everyone. I'm not a Palmer hater at all. I just think the bengals Coach and ownership took everything out of him by letting the nuts run the asylum there. He was nothing but a company man until this year and the Franchise failed him. He also isn't what he used to be anymore.

I could go for some Palmer to Bey in several of my leagues!

I think OAK could have had him for a lot less.....

Sorry for the lateness, but I was puking my guts out all week after this deal was announced.

You can get Orton (similar skillset to Palmer) for something resembling a 2 and a 4 in 2011, maybe less. Or ridiculously overpay for a guy who helps you, maybe, for the rest of this year but only has about 3 more years of usefulness. Orton=durable. Palmer=Significant injury history.
And oh by the way give up potentially 2 1st's and more. Seriously?
Al Davis is no longer with us, R.I.P. But do you really have to immediately make stupid decisions for the future as some type of demented tribute to him?
I can't even believe this actually happened. I would have rather seen Oakland send some middle round picks to New England for Hoyer.
Cincy.. now (2011 offseason) is the time to ****can your entire front office/coaching staff for some competent personnel (read: NOT Marvin Lewis), and completely rock the 2012 draft.
I have a pretty decent vocabulary, but even I'm at a loss to describe how stupid this whole transaction was for Oakland.

"Its An Outrage"
Michael Lombardi was a "Senior Personnel Executive" with the Raiders (1999-2007) said after the trade for C.Palmer that "Al Davis would never have made this trade".

The damage is done and Raider fans have to live with the fallout from the trade, im giving Palmer a very short lived benefit of the doubt since he has only been with the Raiders for less than a week & needing more time to practice and get the playbook down.

HC Hue Jackson is good at coaching and IMO should do just that Coach The Team and keep out of player personnel moves in the future.

Revvin' for Seven!!
why not just a one-year contract? Palmer didn't deserve (no QB other than a snot-wiping Sanchez, Brees, Rodgers, Roethl, etc. would be worth a multi-year PLUS draft-picks deal. "Oakland sucks" will now unfortunately be uttered for years to come when they were just starting to come around. Shame on Oakland for falling for "he won't be there long, get him now!" mentality.
