nfl.com,
Lions WR Calvin Johnson has recovered from his 2009 injuries, and the work he's put in this offseason with QB Matthew Stafford is showing on the field. The two have improved communication with each other, likely the result of working together four days a week. Johnson beat double coverage repeatedly during drills in their mid-May OTA and made several outstanding grabs. Johnson admits he was frustrated last year but knows that this year is a whole new ballgame, especially with Stafford a year wiser."We're in sync out there now," Johnson said. "We've had time to work together. He's in his second year, and ready to shine. I'm excited."

I expect Calvin to be back in a big way this season. What say you Chris?

I hope CJ can stay healthy, he is one of those WRs that will always get his share of the WR action. Andre J with the Texans is the same way.

Last year CJ didn't come close to living up to expectations but he'll rebound in a big way if he stays healthy. There's that word "IF" again. A mighty big word to be so short.

Calvin will be a top 3 WR this year and I have him as high as #2. The Lions will be throwing the ball the whole game. Stafford has one of the best arms in the game and Calvin probably has the best hands in the game. Stafford is a deep threat OB and CJ is a deep threat WR. A perfect combination for a stellar season.

rotoworld,

Calvin Johnson is in a better mood than ever after a promising offseason from the Lions.

Johnson was often sullen last year, even arguing with Matthew Stafford on the sideline at times. "You see all the pieces coming together," he observed. "It's going to be nice. We're bigger, we're faster." Johnson projects to see fewer double and triple teams this season, with Nate Burleson and Tony Scheffler commanding attention adjacent him and Jahvid Best in the backfield.

rotoworld,
Beat writer Tom Kowalski believes the next step in Calvin Johnson's "evolution" is to begin imposing his will against defenses even when double teamed.

Johnson has been kept relatively in check by nagging injuries, poor quarterback play, and blanket coverage. Kowalski believes Johnson won't have a problem taking the next step this year: "He has the work ethic and the competitive fire to get it done." With the rest of the offense growing around him, Johnson is poised for a true breakout season.
