rotoworld,

Bucs re-signed restricted free agent RB Carnell "Cadillac" Williams to a one-year, $2.303 million contract.

Receiving a "low" tender in February, Williams gets a 10-percent raise on his 2009 salary. Now 28, Williams is coming off the first 16-game season of his career, though he averaged just 3.9 YPC with four rushing touchdowns. Due to several knee surgeries, Cadillac has lost much of his speed and elusiveness. He's a middle-round prospect for 2010 fantasy leagues.

I guess a 10% raise isn't nothing to cry about though.

I think Caddy was originally a 5 year $31 million deal. He was Offensive ROY his first year. Had a couple of hundred yards and 3-4 TDs in the two years he got injured. Hard to gauge who got the better end of the deal.

(KFFL)Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Cadillac Williams said he is finally back to 100 percent after suffering serious knee injuries that cost him most of the 2007 and 2008 seasons, reports USA Today's Skip Wood. Williams rushed for 823 yards in 2009 and said that "was just a start." Williams added, "I'm finally back to 100% and all that. And, you know, this is my first offseason in two years where I haven't had to rehab just to get myself back on the field. I know I can show a lot more than what I already have. Straight up, I mean, I just feel my best years are ahead."

I could see him as a nice #2. We'll see how training camp shakes out. If Ward shows any improvement, he will cut into Caddy's carries. If he is the main back getting most of the carries, he could be a nice sleeper. And should have great value in the later rounds.

rotoworld,

Cadillac Williams is working as the starting running back during Bucs' offseason workouts.

No surprise here. Williams came out of last season healthy and was the starter all season. Still, we're expecting the Bucs to give Derrick Ward a few more chances this season, creating a pretty even time share. It's a low upside fantasy backfield.

(nfl.com)The St. Petersburg Times reports that Bucs RB Cadillac Williams is finally focused on football and not rehab for the first offseason since 2007 with two devastating knee injuries behind him. Williams led the Bucs in rushing last season with 823 yards and four touchdowns on 211 carries (3.9 average). He also played 16 games for the first time in his career. "Individually, for me to go 16 games, for both knees to hold up just fine, once the season was over, it was like a sigh of relief, it was like I had really accomplished something," Williams said. "It made the two years, all the hard work I had put in worthwhile. I could sit down and actually kind of pat myself on the back." By all accounts, Williams has not missed a day of work in the offseason program and OTA workouts. He is looking forward to a big year in 2010. "I am a goal guy, and I think very highly of myself and my God-given ability with my will and determination," Williams said. "It's no longer me just trying to feel my way through it and rehabbing and trying to get back. I feel better now than I've ever felt. My goals are very high. I definitely want all those accolades — the Pro Bowl, to be one of the top rushers in the league — and I feel like that's coming in the near future."
