Pewter Report
According to a report by the St. Petersburg Times, several Buccaneers did not make the trip to Miami for the 2010 preseason opener versus the Dolphins Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised locally at 7:00 p.m. on Channel 8 (NBC) WFLA. The list of Buccaneers who will be out for the Dolphins game includes:

• Tight end Kellen Winslow (held out for precautionary reasons)

• Cornerback Aqib Talib (groin injury/personal)

• Defensive tackle Brian Price (hamstring injury)

• Cornerback Myron Lewis (hamstring injury)

• Kick returner Clifton Smith (hamstring injury)

• Safety De'von Hall (undisclosed injury)

The Times reports that Talib's absence is of a personal nature and is not the result of any legal matter, and that Winslow should play in the preseason home opener next week against Kansas City.

Despite the South Florida rain.... Caddy is in the rain.

Miami and Tampa Bay have played each other in preseason every year for the past decade. Of the 10 preseason games the Bucs and Dolphins played from 2000-09, eight were decided by four points or less and none were decided by more than nine points.

The last time Miami came to Tampa, they kicked a last minute FG and took home the win 25-23.... I understand if no one is as excited about this game as I am, but I'm FRIGGIN EXCITED!!

Freeman to M.Williams.....30 yards
Freeman to Straughter.... 13 yards and a TD!

Derrick Ward is not going to get a Christmas card from me unless he can figure out a way to improve the space he occupies. He frustrates me.

Johnson looked rattled. Great play followed by horrible play.... and repeat.

Defense did a nice job of stopping the Fins redzone attack, but allowed a FG.

Areas for improvement:

3rd down conversions in general
3rd and long play calling specifically
Quarterbacks moving the ball forward... not backwards Johnson!
Goal line play calling
Stopping the run... still.

Le Sigh.... at least a few players brought out some sunshine.
WR Mike Williams took advantage of his opportunity to make a big play.

WR Chris Brooks didn't hold back either at first... 3 rec / 50 yards. Although he loses ALL credit we would have gained when he dropped the ball in the red zone and basically handed over the game to Nate Ness.

WR Sammie Straughter owned his plays...3 rec/ 33 yds / TD

TE Purvis has a long way to go but proved that Greg Olsen plans to use a TE a lot in his offense this year. Winslow and Stevens didn't play tonight but they're grooming a decent back up in case their glass slippers fall off mid season.

CB E. J. Biggers & Lynch were doing a good job of closing down the field.

S Tanard Jackson didn't impress. He needs to take the prom dress off and get in the game. He was really reserved in training camp too... I hope this is just conservative preseason strategy and not a repeat Antonio Bryant pattern.

Time will tell..... :thrash:

I was very pleased with him.
Buccaneers | Would like to see Kareem Huggins with starters Wed Aug 18, 06:21 PM
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers likely will use RB Kareem Huggins by at least the second quarter of the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 21, reports Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times. The Buccaneers have been impressed with Huggins' speed and big-play ability but want to see how he does against better competition with the starting offensive line.
Our view: It's starting to look more and more like Huggins will be a Cadillac Williams injury away from being a starting running back.
