Browns QB Situation.

Steve Doerschuk, of the Canton Repository, reports Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren said he still needs to study film on QB Brady Quinn before deciding if he could be the team's starting quarterback. "I can't tell you that yet. That's right now. Honestly, if you were to ask me in another month, I could be more forthright. I'm not trying to dodge the question. It wouldn't be fair now to answer. I need to study it more, and I've been doing other things," Holmgren said.

A couple of years ago we thought the Browns had too many of a good thing at the QB position. Now we wonder if they have a QB at all. What do you think?

If B.Quinn becomes the starter the Browns will not be taking any steps to improve, just draft a QB and cut all ties with Quinn and Anderson and move forward.

Yet another high pick on a QB? I can't imagine Browns fans being thrilled with that idea. I don't know what Holmgren expects to learn from the game tape, but Quinn had Winslow and Edwards taken away from him for Robert Royal and a second round rookie. Get the kid some receiving threats first and foremost - sheesh.

The collapse of the team extended beyond the struggles at the QB position. A new QB will solve nothing - build around the other needs.

Not that I'm convinced Quinn will become more than a workable starter the team will not suddenly become a contender if all they do is put someone else under center. Restock the depleted cupboard and it will let us know for sure the missing piece is the QB.

Quinn is young still and Anderson's at least shown he is capable of performing at a high level. The answer here seems to be make a choice on who you want going forward and trade the other. Or let the market decide who stays and who goes by dangling both. Get a decent package of picks back and look for a guy to groom in the 3rd'ish round.
Don't forget Ratliff is there also, who happens to be a Mangini favorite.

I kind of agree with with Wes and O, I think Cleveland would be much, much better using early picks to solve offensive key positions rather than Qb. Get as I suggested in our mock. Go Bryant in the first, then take a receiving TE like Hernandez with a pick in the third. Then if one of the young Qbs like Pike fall, you can try and snag him later for depth and drop one of the existing ones.

I agree here with Phic, Wes and O
