Brian Westbrook/Frank Gore

With the addition of Westy does this lower Gore's stock. I have the number 5 pick and was leaning toward Gore over AJ. Does Westy change things?
 
Westy changes nothing. He's worthless. If he was a solid and trustworthy enough RB he would have been on someone's team long before summer even started
 
The only threat for F.Gore is rookie Anthony Dixon if you could handcuff the two will pay big dividends.

I drafted A.Dixon in the last few rounds of a recent draft, nothing but upside from Dixon
 
OK for me the fifth pick it very close. Basically a 4 way tie which includes. A Rodgers, Brees, Gore and AJ. So far Gore is leading the pack and was just wondering if Westy gave AJ the edge.
 
I'm not buying the Westy is useless angle. I'll be the lone ranger on this one and say that I think they're planning to incorporate Westy more so than most people think. It's no secret that he's no longer a young bunny, but since Westy has something to prove I think they'll harness that energy and put it to good use on the field.
 
You aren't out there by yourself RZR. I echo your feelings and did so on another thread. There's no way that Westbrook doesn't effect Gores touches if he remains healthy. Westbrook wasn't washed up, he was dinged up. Now is that egg shell head screwed on straight to stay? Who knows. Throw in the fact that Dixon has looked good so far and subtract a few more touches from Mr. Gore. Then you've got a young gun at QB who's flat out itching to show he's the real deal and yeah, you got it, a few less touches for FRank. But what's the over all effect of Gore not being the one man show? That should be the question IMO. Will a little less work mean no missed games all season? It could. Will a few less totes mean fresher legs through out the game and more burst on those reduced carries? Yeah it could. I look for Franks numbers to fall a bit per game but for the season he's still an elite RB and one I wouldn't hesitate to draft in the first round. But don't kid yourself, Frank is no longer the one man show on the Bay.

so does that put AJ as my target with the 5th pick? Plus Gore is bound to miss a game or two at the least. We have 2 new guys picking 3 and 4 so I am hoping one will pick peyton or brees leaving me with RR or MJD
 
MJD or Ray Rice if they fall to you, no question. Is it a ppr league? Gore is still going to be a top 10 back. Jack the slightly reduced roll could actually help the over all numbers for Gore but I doubt it. Please also note that few regular posters on this site agree with me that Westbrook and Dixon are going to cut into Gore's touches. They could be a lot smarter than me.

thanks, I may have to go with Andre then go RB and RB. Hopefully I could land an RB1 in the second round.
