Brett Favre calls it a career - For good?

Brett Favre was the NFL's ultimate iron man for 19 years, inspiring coaches and teammates with unparalleled toughness and thrilling fans with a daredevil's verve and a showman's sense of the moment.

Yet the once-irrepressible Favre never looked older or more fragile than in year No. 20. The magic of last season, and most of his brilliant career, never seemed farther away.

It had to end some time. And Favre says that time is now.

The 41-year-old quarterback sat out Minnesota's season-ending loss to the Lions on Sunday with a concussion, and it appears that perhaps the toughest man to ever play in the NFL had his career end not on the field trying to rally the Vikings to another victory, but on the bench as a third-string rookie floundered in Favre's place.

ESPN NFL Brett Favre says he's retiring

Yeah, I think this time its for real. The body has finally quit on him.

I hope it ends up being true and he does retire but never count out the medias ability to hype up some news by camping out all off season in Misissippi.

And if the media does this, fans nationwide will be bashing Brett Favre for it even though he can do nothing about it. I expect we will see media cameras all over a high school practice or two in Mississippi next season.

He's done. Not a single team will waste time or money to bring him down to play. He might show up again as a QB coach somewhere tho. He has finally realized he played one too many seasons. He's a competitor so he had to find out the hard way. He'll go down as one of the all time greatest but always have that star by his name by playing too long and switching teams. Now he can sit in his rocking chair and think how GB really handed his ass to him last time.

While I think his last full season as a starting quarterback is finished, I would be absolutely shocked if he doesn't come back to play a few games here and there over the next few seasons (a la Vinny Testaverde, Doug Flutie, Warren Moon, etc)

With the number of teams just aching for quarterbacks and the injuries that mount, coupled with his "I'll come back during week 1" mentality, I feel like we haven't seen the end of Brett Favre.

I could see him playing a game or two for the Browns next year under the new Mike Holmgren hire if Colt McCoy and his backup get hurt.

No way will his body allow him to play. If he was capable then he would have played at least one more game in Minny. He's done, no way he takes another snap. Physicallly he is done and now he is mentally done. And he knows it, finally. Heck he might even end up on a show if Cowher finds himself a new coaching gig.
