Brees Skipping Mandatory Minicamp

The move isn't coming as a surprise but here's the kicker that really chaps my backside. Instead of trying to hammer out a deal this week GM Mickey Loomis is devoting this week to evaluating basketball players for Tom Benson's Hornets. Loomis has put on a second hat as an adviser for the New Orlens Hornets. First off Loomis only has a few weeks left before his suspension kicks in and now he's got a second job? Come on! Brees and the Saints have until July 16 to reach a new deal.
 
I just have a bad feeling here. I think folks figured Brees was happy, and would take whatever to stay. Folks forget how he was treated by S.D. in a similar situation, and that he didn't get a huge deal to sign as a FA with the Saints. So he wants his money he has earned. This could really be an ugly season in New Orleans this year.
 
Brees and the Saints are believed to be $2M apart per year from each other. That ain't chump change right there. If he doesn't sign a new deal by the 16th he'll either have to sign his tender offer or sit the year out away from football.
 
In a related story the Saints have invited FA QB Luke McCoy in for a tryout during the June minicamp. With Brees sitting out the Saints are in need of another camp QB having only Chase Daniel and Sean Canfield under contract. Oh Lord, I'm feeling sick.
 
It is being reported this afternoon the Brees and the Saints have resumed contract talks but that no progress has been made with the two sides still about $2M each year apart.
 
im having anxiety over my 1st round picks now... sooo many years of just saying uhhh...hmm i guess.... yeah Drew Brees
