Braylon Edwards

Edwards went big in 2007 (16 gms, 80 rec, 1289 yds, 16 TDs) and followed that up with a poor showing in 2008 (16 gms, 55 rec, 873 yds 3 TDs). Is there any reason to believe that this guy is gonna turn it around this year???

Might he be a good value at his current ADP (4.07) or is he destined to disappoint once again???

His ADP is somewhat of a mystery to me.

When I think about Braylon, another guy comes to mind, and that's Dwayne Bowe. Both players are freakish talents. Both players play for sub par teams. Both players have just lost their running mate TE. Both players have no other playmaker WRs on the other side. Both players have question marks at QB. Both players have a high mileage RB trying to move the chains on the ground.

So why is it that Bowe is taken some 13 picks earlier?

Could it be that his team's offense is better as a unit? I don't think so. KC has 1 of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Their run game has suffered because of this, also causing their passing game to suffer.

Cleveland on the other hand has a pretty solid offensive line.

Maybe it's because Cleveland plays in an easier division. That won't be the case as long as Denver remains in the AFC West and Baltimore and Pitt are in the East.

So what is the reason?

I think the only reason is that Braylon has shook the fantasy community's faith in him. All those dropped balls and lack of fantasy points scored left a bad taste in too many owner's mouths.

Bowe has never done much of anything, while Edwards did have the 2007 season. Bowe lost Gonzo, and gets a new QB who is no better than Thigpen. Edwards loses a TE and keeps both of his Qb. I hope to not need to dial up either, but at least Edwards has done something big.

My gut tells me that Edwards could have a nice bounceback season in 09', he certainly has the talent too. Definitely a high risk/reward option.

I agree with you that he's a high risk, not sure about the rewards tho. Watching him play last year was more than disheartening. It wasn't just that his numbers were low and his QB sucked and his TE missed game after game... he didn't show any passion for the game and even less determination in his catch ATTEMPTS. It looked like he was merely running laps in practice... while dressed and on the game clock.

He undeniably has the talent. But, does he have the attitude? Without attitude, there is no altitude or pass completions in the RZ, or anywhere else on the field for that matter.

Especially in redraft leagues I'd be very wary about Braylon until he proves he's still in the game to play.

Just from the outside looking in...I think alot of players gave up on the HC...and that was part of the problem. I am not a huge Mangini fan...but if he clears house here like in NYJ and turns attitudes around....this could be a decent team.

I would be all over Edwards....regardless of Winslow....had they made the move to acquire another Rb. Jamal is sloping down IMO.....and the passing game will struggle with rookie WRs learing on the job. Still, I do have Edwards bouncing back...just not sure how well.

If for no other reason he wants out...and has to raise his value to get traded.

I look for Quinn to emerge this season and I like Furrey and Robiskie's potential as chain movers. (I think Quinn and Furrey are gonna click). I also think that Cleveland will be a RBBC behind a decent O-Line that will at least keep the D honest.

All this set's up a very nice opportunity for Edwards to excel.

Will he?

I just don't feel it, Y'all.:shake:

Edwards is a curious cat. Will he be motivated to showcase himself as a trade-bait worthy piece, or will his discontent linger into his performance like Chad Johnson did last year? The Browns have 2 new shiny Wr draft picks and a shiny new head coach, so this is of the utmost importance from an organizational standpoint.

I'm leaning towards him being somewhat of a bust this year and showing that the Michigan "#1" mystique is exactly that. Are you listening, David Terrell?

He is in a contract year. I think he will be showcasing his skills to either get a long term deal in Cleveland or somewhere else. Plus he has the other WRs on the team ready and waiting to take his job. I see that as a lot of motivation to step it up this year. Now once he gets a long term deal, that's another story. So I like him in redraft leagues this year, but not dynasty.

no on topic of his value, but did anyone else hear that Edwards was with Stallworth the night he hit the pedestrian? Sounds like they had a damn good time....

Now, news has broke that Edwards was Stallworth's drinking mate the night of the fateful accident, and by the reported amounts of money that were spent, they must have had one heck of a party.
Edwards was reported to have spent $3,443 on drinks including: a $1,500 bottle of champagne and $695 on vodka.
