Brandon Marshall has unkown surgery, out until camp

ROTOWORLD,

ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Dolphins did not know Brandon Marshall would require further surgery on his hip prior to trading two second-round picks for him a month ago.

Clayton says the team ultimately arranged the surgery, but only after finding out that Marshall's 2009 hip procedure hadn't fixed all of his problem. Clayton calls the development a "curveball" to the Dolphins' offseason plans.

(TheHuddle) Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall (hip) underwent surgery on his hip this offseason, a source told ESPN.com. Head coach Tony Sparano said Marshall will be out until at least the start of training camp. Analysis: Marshall has been dealing with hip issues for a while now and indications are that this was not a serious event and may have been as mundane as clearing out some scar tissue. Don't expect this to damage Marshall's fantasy value this season.

Liea Little reports that Brandon Marshall has no interest in participating in off-season activities and will bilk the hip injury through the first 2 pre-season games.

rotoworld,

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports that the Dolphins have very little concern about Brandon Marshall's second hip surgery in as many offseasons.

Wyche says the surgery was "minor," and "no one (in the Fins' organization) is sweating this." Marshall reportedly never even needed crutches after the operation. The nearly $10 million-a-year wideout worked out on an exercise bike to the side of Wednesday's OTA practice. He's expected back by camp. May. 19 - 7:08 pm et

rotoworld,

Citing a source close to Brandon Marshall, the Palm Beach Post reports the receiver's latest hip surgery is "minor" and "nothing for anyone to get up in arms about."

"I think the shock was no one knew what happened, so when they found out what happened, it became big news," said the source. "But it was really nothing." Marshall's 2010 fantasy won't be drastically affected, but surgeries in back-to-back years to both hips is a long-term concern. As reported by PFT, the Dolphins have the option to part with Marshall next offseason without monetary repercussions.

Dolphins' offensive coordinator Dan Henning told Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he plans on moving the receivers around different positions in the offense this season.

The Miami receiving corps is short on elite talent outside of the newly-acquired Brandon Marshall, and this strategy is an effort to confuse defenses trying to key on where Marshall will line up on each play. Brian Hartline, Davone Bess and Greg Camarillo are all battling for the other starting WR spot opposite Marshall, who is expected to return to full health in time for training camp after undergoing offseason hip surgery.

Brandon Marshall (hip) is standing up while riding the exercise bike during OTAs.

This sounds minor, but it's a good sign that Marshall is already able to put extra stress on that surgically repaired hip. He's not just out there coasting. Earlier reports that the procedure wasn't a big deal appear to be accurate.

Brandon Marshall (hip) participated in Wednesday's OTA. This confirms that Marshall's latest hip surgery was indeed minor. It's a great sign that he's working out a full six weeks before training camp even begins.

(FFChamps) Wide Receiver-Brandon Marshall, participated in the Dolphins' Organized Team Activities according to Sun Sentential reporter, Omar Kelly. Marshall had hip surgery in Mid-May and the fact he's back on the field already, proves the surgery was nothing major. Analysis: This is great news for Fantasy Footballers, Marshall should get to 100% before the start of the season and play in the seasons opener for the first time in three years (he was suspended at the start of the season the last two years).

rotoworld,
Despite Brandon Marshall's (hip) return for quarterback-and-receiver drills Wednesday, coach Tony Sparano still isn't sure if the receiver will be full-go for training camp.

Marshall was limited to 10 minutes and a few routes of running and catching Wednesday, but the Dolphins didn't expect him to take the field at all until August. He's ahead of schedule. Even if he's eased in during training camp, Marshall should be just fine for Week 1.

Brandon Marshall said he is finishing up the final week of his eight-week rehab from hip surgery.

All signs point toward Marshall's procedure being minor, even though it's still unknown if he'll truly be 100 percent for training camp. No one surrounding the Dolphins appears concerned, and fantasy owners shouldn't be either.

cbssports.com,
In an interview with CBSSports.com on Tuesday, Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall said his surgically repaired hip is doing well, and he's on track for the start of training camp. Marshall said he has been able to run around during his football camp for kids, Brandon Marshall Camp 19, and he's had no setbacks from the surgery earlier this offseason. "I'm feeling good," Marshall said. "I'm ahead of schedule with no restrictions. I feel like I'm on track."
Analysis: We expect Marshall to be on field and ready to go for the start of training camp. He should play well in his first year with the Dolphins, and we like him as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy WR. He should be drafted as early as Round 3 in all leagues as long as his hip is 100 percent.

I like Henne and feel he could really make hay with Marshall. If he is healthy and able to start camp, I move Marshall way up and would even jump in the second round to take him.

I find it amusing that people are trying to find something to justify shitting on Marshall. Then again, I was just watching the 2000 Ravens SB documentary and they mentioned several times how that was pretty much the case with Ray Lewis, funny how he's been squeeky clean since that mess.
