Merriman said Monday his rehab from surgery to repair a nagging right Achilles tendon injury has him on track to be ready for training camp, BuffaloBills.com reports. Merriman probably has as much of a gap between upside and downside as anyone on the entire IDP radar. The downside is obvious: he's been through so many injuries the past few seasons that any production the Bills get out of him once the regular season rolls around is probably considered a bonus. As for the upside, in the rare times he's been healthy the last several seasons, he's still more athletic than most guys on the field and it looks like he might have a full training camp with the new defense, one that should offer up a lot of play-making opportunities based on guys like Mario and Kyle Williams, as well as Marcell Dareus, who may free up other defenders like Merriman.
