Aaron Schobel was reportedly informed that the Bills intend to release him, and he's interested in talking to other teams.

Schobel was due a whopping $8 million from the Bills this season, so they opted to sever ties after he waffled one too many times. If Schobel is granted free agency, the Texans and Patriots figure to be among his most ardent pursuers. Rumors have surfaced that the Texas native wants to finish his career in Houston. The Pats, tormented by Schobel in the AFC East for years, could also use a veteran pass rusher. Aug. 2 - 12:56 pm et

The Houston Chronicle confirms that Bills OLB/DE Aaron Schobel "would love" to play for the Texans this season.

Schobel grew up 70 miles west of Houston and still owns ranch near there. He's also tight with Texans' assistant head coach/defensive line, Bill Kollar, who used to coach him with the Bills. Schobel remains on Buffalo's Reserved/Did Not Report list, and it's not clear when exactly he'll be granted his release. The Texans have no interest in trading for him, and they will only sign him if the price is right.

Bills GM Buddy Nix was adamant Monday that the team will not release pass rusher Aaron Schobel.

"He will remain on our Reserve/Did Not Report list until he makes a decision about what he wants to do," said Nix. "Whether it’s retire or if he might want to play somewhere else." The Bills won't give up their best pass rusher for nothing. It's just going to be difficult to find a trade partner, unless Schobel is willing to rework his contract. He's due a $6 million salary this year.
