Eagles: Loss of McCoy could be huge. I am not a Bell fan, nor Buckley. With Kolb at Qb, they will NEED McCoy.
Next - loss of a real O-line :banghead:

Easy one for me.

1990 NFC Championship game. My Niners playing the Giants. Niners much the better team, but Parcells has a great game plan and shortens the game. SF up by a point midway through the 4th quarter and Montana gets knocked out of the game. In comes HOFer Steve Young and he connects with Brent Jones for a first down that seems to ice the game. But no. LT rips the ball out of Roger Craigs hands and the Giants recover. A couple completions from Hostetler and Matt Bahr hits a 44 yarder as time runs out. Niners lose 15-13.

Craigs fumble cost the Niners a Threepeat.:xpissed: Despite the great plays he made in his career, that's how I remember him. Putting the ball on the ground and costing them a chance to win three in a row...............

Losing to the Colts in the Superbowl after watching Hester run back the opening kick off!!

And NOW I get to see Jay Cutler turned into a vegetable before my very own eyes!! :stretcher

:shake:

:hmmm:

a) the loss to the raiders in SB XV?

b) the loss to the bucs in the conference final 2002 (2003)?

c) the loss to the panthers in the conference final 2003 (2004)?

d) the loss to the pats in the SB XXXIX?

e) the loss to the cardinals in the conference final 2008 (2009)?

f) the loss to the cowboys in the wild card game 2009 (2010)?

i'd have to say f < b < c < a < e < d

e was pretty bad because we had the best shot of winning the big one imo, unless you count a but i was too young to appreciate that at the time

:sadbanana:

The biggest? I'd have to say when the Lions lost to the Redskins 44-3 in the NFC championship game. This was the only time the Lions sniffed the Super Bowl, and the game was over well before half time. I suppose losing a close one at the end would have felt worse.

The most painful loss was when Barry Sanders retired while still in the prime of his career. I admire him for leaving on his own terms, but the buzz of anticipation he created every time he touched the ball was magical. Who knows how many more highlight reel plays we missed out on with him retiring in his prime.

Wow, that's quite the list!

I know this isnt as "big" in comparison to Superbowls or losing players who are crucial but my toughest defeat as a fan came against the Vikes in 2008. I was in the Dome when the refs basically did all they could to keep the Vikes in the game then Reggie Bush returned not 1 but 2 punts for TDs and almost took another to the house to win the game. We eventually lost the game on a Longwell FG that was set up because of a Pass Interference call. I remember it like it was yesterday, it was a Monday nighter so we were all drunk and ready to go then about 11:30 we all were deflated walking out with our heads hung in disbelief. ALTHOUGH, we did get a couple of gifts from the Vikes in the 2009 NFC Champ game that takes a lot of pain off of this game for me.
