Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco Didn't Workout In The Previous Offseason

Chad Ochocinco said on NFL Network Friday that last year's shoulder and ankle injuries were the result of not doing any workouts at all in the 2008 offseason. "I didn't lift one weight, I didn't run one route, I didn't excercise," said Ocho.

Sounds like he's motivated to prove someone wrong:

“I want No. 9 to understand the type of animal he’s going to get this year,” Ochocinco said during the one-on-one chat. “We’ve played together for awhile. He’s going to get a different type of 85. I’ve never worked this way before. I’ve always worked, but because of my pride and me being hurt and humbled last year the way I was, he’s going to get a different type of animal all together. Especially when someone challenges your pride.”

Also sounds like he's accepted that he's in Cincy and is not going anywhere:
“I’m a Bengal,” explained Ochocinco. “My owner and I, we’re joined at the hip. We’re going to stay joined at the hip until he says otherwise. So I’m not going to fight that battle, which I can’t win, and I can’t control. So why not put all my efforts and my energy back into it just like I have every year. Except last year, I was sort of frustrated, you know. That’s all.”

I'm excited, fantasy wise, for Ocho this year. Carson back, and it sounds like Chad feels like he has something to prove. Solid #2 this year I think.

I think you are going to see his ADP start to rise....bummer too, i was hoping to find a nice sleeper waiting for me in the 5th round.

Chad will say anything, at any moment, to anyone, that will aid Chad's causes. I bet his fellow receivers loved it when he gave them the shout out "I gotchu, I gotchu covered". He might do much better this year but that interview was a joke. I bet Palmer also loved hearing that "there would be no 9, without 85". With Housh gone, Chad has the oppurtunity to be the teams best widout again. That will go a long way in aiding the pride thing. :)

He also goes where many men haven't gone before with his reference here to a certain movie. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :gay2:

-- Ochocinco Talks with Palmer --
Mon Jun 8, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
The Cincinnati Bengals' official website reports Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco called and talked with QB Carson Palmer for about "40 to 45 minutes" on Monday. It was the first time since they had talked since the end of the season. "I know people are trying to say we're mad at each other and all that, but we're good," he said. "We're like Brokeback Mountain. I'm going to be with Carson so much in July that I'm going to be the nanny (for his new twins). I'm going to babysit. We were getting down to the details. If he and the wife go out, they have to be back by three. I asked for permission to have company over."

I miss the good ole days... When WR's like Jerry Rice did all (well most of) his talking on the field. I mean come on! The number 85 translated in Spanish is actually Ochenta y Cinco, not Ocho Cinco.

Not to be too harsh tho cuz Chad and Palmer helped me soar into the Championship Game in '07 but less talk and a LOT MORE ACTION. Buttering up Palmer isn't the same thing a building a synergistic and consistent rhythm. If he can stay relatively level headed and doesn't try act 2 of the "crying over my QB in a press conference while hiding behind dark shades drama then sure man... bring it on.... on the field.

Having Carson instead of Fitzpatrick slinging it will help as much as any off season workout. Saying that, I don't think going Heath Ledger on his QB is going to score him any points.

The more Chad talks (trade whinny aside) the better he seems to play. When he's pouting and not just having fun and talking his trash he struggles a lot more. A fun and talkative Chad is a good thing.

Chad and Carson talking is good as well. Remember, these two have been together for a LONG time, the chemistry is there, they just have to reconnect and get back on the same page. Hopefully this is step one in that direction.

Agreed. I remember when Chad and Carson came to Indy to watch Manning and Harrison. They wanted what those two had. They know what it takes to build a trust and chemistry on the field. If Chad is changing his tune and willing to put in the time, the chemistry will come back. Carson's not a toddler. He's only pissed because of Chad's recent actions. If Chad has honestly changed, Carson will love life.
