Bears Sign Jay Cutler To A $30 Million, 2 Year Extension

The Chicago Bears and quarterback Jay Cutler agreed to a two-year extension that will keep him with the team through 2013, and a source confirmed it will pay him $30 million in new money.

Under terms of the deal, Cutler will get $20 million in guarantees in this two-year extension, the source confirmed. Under terms of the rookie contract Cutler signed as a rookie with the Broncos, he was scheduled to make $20 million through 2011.

Smart move here by the Bears. They have an outstanding talent at quarterback, and this give him the assurance that he has a secure job.
 
Great move by Chicago. This has been a weakness for this team ever since McMahon dropped out of the picture. Now they can concentrate on the key weaknesses they have like O-line and D-line and secondary.
