Cardinals RB Beanie Wells may have suffered a serious injury on Monday at practice. Wells, who won't have an updated status until Tuesday, was hurt during 11-on-11 drills on a hit from SS Hamza Abdulla. He was carted off the field after sustaining a ribs injury after staying down for several minutes. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said, "He got hit in the ribs. This is football. What do you expect?"

Analysis: If the injury sustained by Wells ends up being serious, it would mark the second straight year the second-year back was injured and missed significant time in camp. He injured an ankle last year but went on to finish his rookie season with 176 carries for 793 yards and seven touchdowns. With a revamped offensive line ahead of him that includes All-Pro guard Alan Faneca, Wells should be able to get into the secondary regularly this season, as long as he can stay healthy. Stay tuned to further updates on this situation. If he isn't hurt too badly, Wells should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy RB.

Following Monday night's practice, coach Ken Whisenhunt revealed that Chris "Beanie" Wells is only "sore" and will be OK despite being carted off the field with a rib injury.

"He just got hit on the ribs, and that’s football," said Whisenhunt. Turns out, Wells was only carted off as a precaution. A CT scan confirmed that he suffered no fracture. We can take this time to mention that Wells was listed as Arizona's No. 2 tailback on Monday's preseason depth chart, though that was expected. Tim Hightower continues to work as the team's first-stringer.
