The Packers' offensive line has been offensive more often than not — even before its best player, veteran OLT Chad Clifton, sprained his right ankle in the Week Two loss to the Bengals. But with Clifton's ankle healing more quickly than expected, and Allen Barbre — a noticeably weak link at right tackle in the first two games — showing what team insiders considered to be major improvement in the Week Three win over the Rams, there's reason to believe the line might not be such a big handicap after all. Barbre did get some help handling Rams veteran DLE Leonard Little, who rattled off two quick sacks, but Barbre more than held his own for long stretches and was by far the line's best run blocker. That's not to say the Packers have stopped tinkering with a unit that could break down in a heartbeat. We hear both ex-Bengal Levi Jones, who had a workout with the team, and possibly even former starting ORT Mark Tauscher remain on the team's radar screen.
