Are you buying into Louis Murphy?

This rookie looked really good last night. Should have had two TD's, but the league needed to see the Chargers starting off with a win on Monday Night Football......

Think this guy will continue to produce throughout the season?

If this guy continues to produce, does the return of Schillens really matter? We are looking at a rookie here who really stepped up against a tough defense.

I think at this point Russell is looking for someone he can trust. I don't think he has that trust in DHB. So I think Murphy did step up....and will be there til Schillens is back. After that...who knows. If Russell likes both....does it hurt Miller's numbers? dunno:

Raiders | Murphy likely to lose snaps when Schilens returns Wed Sep 16, 12:43 AM
Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable indicated WR Louis Murphy would likely lose snaps instead of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey when WR Chaz Schilens (foot) returns. Cable said, "Schilens plays the other side (from Heyward-Bey). You've got the ability to get three guys on the field at the same time and maybe have some fun with that."

Raiders | Schilens will not play Week 2 Wed Sep 16, 12:32 AM
Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens (foot) will not play I the team's Week 2 game. Head coach Tom Cable said Schilens is at least a "week or two" away from practicing.

Not putting him down but Schilens is still a relatively unproven quantity and someone I will be interested in seeing take the field once he returns. I think 2+? games of Murphy getting game time experience with Russell could be a definite factor of how they juggle the starting rotation if he continues to succeed.

I selected Hey-Bey in a draft based on the belief that Davis will force the issue with him and keep him involved. I picked up Murphy off the wire to see if he can continue to outperform his counterpart. Neither are starter worthy at this point but at least Murphy has shown promise of being able to step in if needed. Hey-Bey has done nothing in camp or week 1 to warrant a roster spot - I expect that to change but when is the question I do not have an answer for.
