rotoworld,
Mike Lombardi of NFL.com is hearing that Adrian Peterson will be the next star to complain about his contract.

Peterson is still working on the six-year, $40.5 million deal he signed after being drafted seventh overall in 2007. But considering all the incentives in the deal and the fact that it doesn't run out until 2013, A.P. won't have much of a complaint. In terms of money already earned and current contract length, he's not in the same category as Chris Johnson or Vincent Jackson.

(Rotoworld) Adrian Peterson insisted Wednesday at the ESPY's that "you can put to rest" the rumors that he's unhappy with his contract. Analysis: The fallout from absences during OTAs appears to have blown over as well. Relatively speaking, Peterson has no room to complain about his contract. He's due close to $7 million this year and $11-13 million next year (after incentives) before the final year voids in 2012 at age 27. At that time, he should have at least one more shot at a mega-deal with guaranteed money.

cbssports.com,
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports the Vikings are expecting big things from RB Adrian Peterson this year. The report says that will mean not only a big rushing season, but also improvement in his pass protection and, most importantly, a significant decrease in his fumbles. (Peterson has rushed for 4,484 yards but fumbled 20 times in three regular seasons, losing 13 of them). Asked about the expectations for Peterson, Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said: "I know Adrian has worked extremely hard during this offseason, I know he has some high expectations for himself. He's the type of player who is always looking to improve and get better. I know he's looking forward to getting back to this training camp and working on some of the things that he needs to continue to work on. That should be the situation for every player."

Analysis: Peterson should be in line for another big year in 2010. We like Peterson as a No. 1 Fantasy RB, and he's worth drafting as high as No. 1 overall. Most likely, Peterson will be the No. 2 overall selection behind Titans RB Chris Johnson, but we expect Peterson to play at a high level this year and hopefully cut down on his fumble problems.

rotoworld,
Amid speculation he wanted a new contract, Adrian Peterson said Sunday that he will report to training camp on time.

Peterson "seemed somewhat annoyed" about the rumors he's disgruntled or in search of a raise. The fourth-year tailback will collect roughly $6.5 million this season, which is almost three times as much as Chris Johnson's recent salary bump will pay the 2,000-yard rusher. Peterson did reveal that his agent has at least preliminarily discussed a new contract with the Vikings.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has grown every year that he's been in the league as a third-down back, according to head coach Brad Childress on SIRIUS NFL Radio. 'I think you'll see him more on third downs this year,' Childress said.

This would mean an increased role for Peterson over last year when Chester Taylor helped out on third downs. Rookie Toby Gerhart is currently the primary backup behind Peterson and is not a bad receiver out of the backfield either, but the team may be concerned with his pass protection ability.
