Patriots | Maroney says he has something to prove this season Wed May 6, 05:39 PM
Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots RB Laurence Maroney said he needs to prove that he can be a productive running back for the team this season. 'I feel like my rookie year was cool, my second year, the second half I finished strong, last year I got hurt, so I feel like all three years I was dealing with injuries. So this is the year I really have to prove to the fans, to the coaches, to the world, I can be this running back, I can be the guy for [head coach Bill Belichick] and the Patriots,' Maroney said.

Nooooooooo. Not a chance I'd gamble on Maroney. He could be good if he was anywhere but New England.

They have Maroney, Fragile Fred, Sammy Morris, and Kevin Faulk... and not a consistent fantasy starter among them.

Maroney should not be taken until at least the 7th round in your draft.

ADP on NE RBs. (Wow, that was a lot of abbreviation.)

12 team drafts

Sammy Morris 11.03
Maroney 11.10
Fred Taylor 12.10
Kevin Faulk 14.10

If you played your cards right, you could waste 3 late picks and get 75% of the NE running game. Woohoo!!

That and a direct line to the Bellicheat will allow you to know which one of the three headed "monster" to start :D

I know it's just so funny as well as not being funny at all from a Fantasy Football perspective. If Healthy, which finding that out is a whole other fantasy joke line, Faulk will at least play every game. Unfortunatly, he has gone from a dozen touches to about 6. But he is in their every week and will give you a solid 4 points a week. :pickle:

For those who read these threads and also follow fantasy baseball, this closely resembles the Washington Nationals' closer situation.

in a standard league I agree. In a PPR league Faulk has been a very solid start for a #2rb of Flex. I had him in IBL last year and he carried me to some late wins.

and sammy morris was a pretty solid starter as well in regular scoring last year for a good while.

A nice point by Philcinfan as some time we have to gage players value according to the league we are talking about. Sometimes we debate players he in our forum based solely on the 10 and 12 team formats that the majority of us participate in.

In my 16 team Shula League that can start 3 RBs Faulk can be a useful starter. Will he lead your team to a win that week, probably not. But he can be a solid piece to the wekly puzzle.
