A. Bryant a Bengal

gruntbusters

hehehe...heheheh..hehe...
Early word out today is that he agreed to a 4 year deal. Not official yet, but jocklife.com is the source as of right now.

Guess we won't get to see the COC/TO show this season.

This guy won't play hard now that he has his $. That's been his MO and I see no reason for that not to continue.

I am kind of meh with this. If he does nothing more than replace Henry and just run deep routes....they should be fine. Chad will continue to do the heavy lifting. I am just worried about the knees and him not playing much last year due to them.

As for T.O. I actually was looking forward to seeing him and Chad together. Would have made sundays a whole lot of fun.

Me too. I also think that T.O is still the better player. As a Niner fan, I always said that Terrell wasn't a problem as long as the team was winning. He only griped when they lost and he wasn't getting the ball.

Anyway, I think Owens would have been a better signing...............

some numbers

The team signed former Tampa Bay wide receiver Antonio Bryant to a four-year, $28 million deal on Wednesday. With incentives, Bryant could earn as much as $29 million. Bryant had a breakout season in 2008 with more than 1,200 receiving yards, 83 catches and seven touchdowns. Lingering pain from offseason knee surgery and a rookie quarterback dragged down his 2009 numbers, but he was still seen as the top unrestricted free agent wideout this year

huh?

Remember that Boldin was not a free agent.
Marshall is a RFA, at least tendered, so not sure he was considered more than that.

Most have Bryant over Owens and Mason in UFA

Bryant was the best of the UFA's. Just not the best on the market they could have signed.

I am OK with this, not earth shattering, but decent. Here is how I view it. This deal is basically the same deal they gave to Coles who they cut lose. So they basically traded Coles who sucked in Cincy for a Bryant, who is bigger, and younger than Coles. Can't be worse than Coles was this past season so I see this as a positive move. They still need to add some more help at that position IMO.

Just wish they would have went after Marshall, but this is still the Bengals afterall. I think this is a better move than TO....not as flashy, but a better football move.

As far as fantasy value what doe this do to the Bengals stars? Palmer, Ocho, Benson, and now Bryant. Does this put Palmer in the top 10?

Doesn't affect Benson at all, imo. He's the man.

Doesn't really affect Palmer either to be honest. At this point you draft Palmer based on how you think he will play, not so much what's around him. We've seen him in positions where it's clear he could shine, but he fell short. Palmer stays where he is.

I like Ocho but I really don't think it ups his value or decreases it at all. He stays where he is, too.

Bryant's value should stay where it was at the beginning of the season last year. Meaning it's increased since the end of this season. When he did play for the Bucs this year, he wasn't bad by any means. Young team around him and he did get all of the doubles. On a team like Cincy he should get better looks.
