49ers to stick with K David Akers in the Superbowl

Or so reports are saying. Akers has been extremely unreliable since their week 9 bye missing at least one attempt in seven of their last ten games. It'd be a shame if they lost the game because of a missed FG or two. If you were calling the shots for the 9ers would he be your kicker in New Orleans?

Not the way he's been playing. One of the worst years by a kicker I've seen, and to think after a stellar year last season. Something's just not right with him.

Don't know if they can get Cundiff back or not. Maybe Akers can get his act together for one more game. I would be a little worried though if i was a niner fan. Hopefully it won't be left up to a kicker

Its hard to say whether getting a kicker off the street for the freakin superbowl is a good idea. if anything they shoulda made the move a while back... now i think theyre stuck, and akers very well may cost them the game

It's pretty scary when he comes in. The one positive is that he is striking the ball well. Not like when Crosby was duck hooking everything. Between his ears at this point. Hopefully, the two weeks will give him a chance to get everything straight in his head.

Akers said that he has "felt good" kicking in practices and pregame warmups and said that the misses remain mystifying. "You look at the kicks, they're so minute on how far they're off," Akers told the Sacramento Bee. "We're talking inches on a lot of kicks, and that's the frustrating thing. You look at those things, you're like, what's the difference? You look at the film, you see your form, form looks pretty good. It's just one of those things that I just scratch my head, talk to a lot of guys that I talk to when I'm doing well and when I'm not. And they say, hey, just keep fighting through it. And that's the only thing I can do."
