rotoworld,

Rookie RB Anthony Dixon has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

There's no word yet on the severity. Dixon was in sweats Thursday while Glen Coffee took the bulk of the carries. If the injury lingers, Dixon will have an uphill battle to overtake Coffee for the primary backup job.

rotoworld,

The 49ers intend to tweak rookie Anthony Dixon's running style.

VP of Player Personnel Trent Baalke observed that Dixon "has to learn to run like a big back" after dancing too often during OTA practices. Dixon, though, has reportedly "showed some nice moves and a burst of speed" at 235 lbs. Beat writer Matt Maiocco compares Dixon to an early-career Kevan Barlow.

rotoworld,49ers signed sixth-round RB Anthony Dixon to a four-year contract.

Dixon was expected to push last year's third-rounder Glen Coffee for the backup job behind Frank Gore, but has been missing OTA practices of late with a hamstring injury. Coffee has a solid grip on the position at this point.

The 49ers have signed Dixon (hamstring) to a four-year deal, the Associated Press reports. At least he is signed to a contract even if he can't practice.

Well, I just took him in Landry over Coffee, so that tells you my feelings on the kid.........

Everything I read about Dixon in the local papers points to him being the main back up to Gore at some point soon. They like his size and while certainly not a blazer, he seems plenty fast for a big back. Anyway, we'll see when he gets on the field. Singletary seems genuinely excited when he talks about him........
