Seems like some still hold on to this 3rd year WR breakout theory..personally I don't put a ton of stock into it and have never seen anything to convince me that there is any true stats to back it up.

With that said, does anyone still put much stock into this? Any of the 3 yr wideout that jump out at you?

Here are the top 3 yr WR's:

  • Calvin Johnson - broke out in year 2
  • Dwayne Bowe - Would agrue that he to broke out last year, but can he take the next step?
  • Steve Breaston - very nice year last year, but I think he actually falls back this year.
  • Anthony Gonzalez - Good year 3 candidate
  • Ted Ginn Jr - Another good year 3 candidate
Other 3rd yr WR's include (not a complete list): Robert Meachem, Craig Davis, Sidney Rice, Dwayne Jarrett, Jacoby Jones, Jason Hill, James Jones, Johnnie Lee Higgins, David Clowney, Chansi Stuckey.

Bowe - I'm not sure how he is going to do this year. He is the ONLY option in KC now. Cassel had a good year last year, but anyone could have a good year with NE's offense. Will Cassel be able to get the ball to Bowe in double coverage all the time?

Anthoney Gonzalez - I like him a lot this year. Now with Harrison gone, he will get the ball thrown his way a lot more.

Steve Breaston - I agree. With Boldin out he filled in very nicely and put up good numbers. But now with Boldin back in the lineup, his production will go down.

Ted Ginn Jr - I still don't believe in him. I'm just not sure if he will step it up or not.

Bowe is going to have a big year no matter what. The fact remains he is their best weapon on offense and he will get a ton of looks!!!! DB teams or not KC will find ways to get the ball in their playmakers hands. He will be up and dow nweekly more then likely but he isnt going t ohave a bead year stat wise. Id safely say he will get 80+catches 1200 yards and 6-10 TDs. If he doesn't id be shocked!!

I play in larger Keeper and Dynasty leagues. I think anyone who goes by this 3rd year wideout rule is going to miss everytime. I notice they seem to have a big uptick in pts/game around the middle of the secound year. By the time they start their 3rd season the hype machine is in high gear. It's time to start looking at last years rookie WRs that have a tough early schedule and try and get them cheap around weeks 6/8

I have to agree with that, Some WRs do take time to develop and waiting for them to do that is kind of poitnless with the turnout of WRs yearly. The Kerry Colberts of the world make you keep hope but i say move on and sniff out new blood!!!!

The Chiefs should still have a solid offense at least with guys like Cassel, LJ, Charles, Bowe, Engram, and Cottam. Bowe as long as the offense stays healthy should have a good year.
