By all reports - Philly and Tennessee are talking to saints to get Cooks. N.O. says they want to keep him, but he has complained alot on his lack of use. He would be a great add for either team, and get N.O. some picks and cap help.

We have to have help on the defensive side so I'm all in favor of trading Cooks from the Big Easy...IF the price is right.

It was THE subject of all the talk on WWL radio last night. Most fans seem ready to move on from Cook and are hoping for defensive help.

Bid him up and let him go to highest bidder for badly needed defensive help. Thomas, Snead, and Fleener are capable, and maybe one receiver in the draft to supplement.

thing is, it would be for value only, he isn't that high a cap hit, so he doesn't help the budget much if they deal him, but agree they desperately need Def help.

Looking down the road a bit he'll be due a huge pay increase this time next year. Now the rumor is that the Saints might deal him for a 2nd round pick. I hope not and after listening to talk radio last night I can tell you New Orleans fans expect a 1st rounder for the former #20 pick.

Isn't it crazy how much teams value picks. If I said a team Picked Cooks 20th in the draft every one would be saying great pick, but trade 20th pick in current Draft for Cooks and it feels like the team that traded a first round pick for Cooks will get skewered.

Agree, especially since Cooks has put up 2 very good seasons. Even his rookie year was solid considering he missed 6 games completely.

I realize that NO is an excellent passing offense, but they don't force feed any one player, so not like he has had a crazy amount of targets to produce the numbers he has. I would much rather have Cooks that anyone in this draft other than Williams and maybe Davis.

The thing is whether you get the #10 pick, the #24, or even the #32 it doesn't mean squat if the guy doing the picking screws the pooch. Cooks is a proven commodity albeit with a great offensive coach and team. I'll be disappointed if they take anything less than the Titans #18 for him and still feel like the Titans can't complain a dimes worth at that.

Cooks success is about 60% Brees and situation. You saw how quickly New Orleans turned away from him when Thomas was ready.

He's too small to be a serious #1.

If he goes to Philly I could see him doing fair especially if Philly were to get a Marshall type to be a true #1. If he ends up in Tennessee you won't hear from him again.

I think a 2nd is even a little high for the guy but those two 3's that Philly has could plug some defensive holes.

Because it ties into the salary cap. When you draft a rookie you have him for four years at a decent salary, five for first rounders if the team decides to pick up the option year. A couple of years ago Miami for a third round pick. Still made around 3.5 million for his four years, now he is going to get close to 10 million a year (per some reports). Cooks will be a UFA in two years, and then if you want to keep him he is going to cost you big $$$.

That 's good because it has to mean a #32 won't get him. Either that or maybe they are sick of the Patriots being in the Super Bowl. :D
Mud you think someone will eventually cave and Saints can get a mid first rounder for Cooks.

What's cap situation for NO? Thinking Donta Hightower would help them a lot but going to be expensive.

New Orleans has $26,803,982 in cap space; 22nd overall in the NFL. Additionally, the Saints are carrying a whopping $9,086,452 in dead money heading into the offseason, which is the most in the entire NFL.
