2013s Mid Season Sell Highs

Last year we had a fairly spirited debate regarding MJD. How did everyone make out ? I had him in 2 leagues and traded him off in both by week 6 for very good value. I was in the get rid of him camp, but could not pass up how far he slid in 1 draft. Was a keeper I couldn't trade during offseason in another.

Who is your "Do Not Touch"/"Trade off Early". Granted this is more for Dynasty/Keeper leagues than redraft, But Miller put it best last year. Do you want to be the last 1 holding the bag in the end ??

Here are my 2 candidates for discussion this year:

Frank Gore SF RB - 30 yrs old with about 600 touches over the last 2 seasons (+ playoffs). What bothers me though is that over those last 2 years he has suffered about a 30% drop in pts/gm over last 1/3 of the season. Now it sounds like SF will not play Lattimore this year unless Gore gets hurt. Sounds like they want him for next year.

Marshawn Lynch Sea RB - 27 yrs old. 630 touches last 2 seasons (+ playoffs). While he does not seem to be a risk for inury/burnout he does have a pending court appearance in Dec which should not effect his 2013 season or playoffs. However, should that not go well he would be facing a suspension in 2014 and Seattle has an out on his escalating contract.

I don't have either, but I would only take them at bargain trade values now. I spent the offseason aggressively trying to get Lattimore and Michael.

What are your feelings or who are you candidates

Steven Jackson is a perfect candidate. If things fall right, he could come out of the gate guns blazing this year. Perfect time to offer him up for anything you can get.

If you haven't already jumped ship on Reggie Wayne, it might be too late for you. The first time he puts up 100 yds and a TD in a game, you should try to unload this game. This is obvious though. Wayne turns 35 this season. This might be the last go round for him.

A little less obvious now. Get rid of Roddy White. He might seem a good deal younger than Wayne, but he turns 32 this November. He's also got one the most impressive young WRs coming up behind him. Make a move and get good value before it gets too late.

Tom Brady. Hard one to make a great case for here, cause he's still one of the best in the game. Crazy things happen though, and he's teetering closer and closer to the edge every day. We've seen how easy the Pats throw someone away once they're done with them. Brady should still command a high price too.

Arian Foster. He's turning 27 this weekend, has carried a very heavy workload 3 straight years, and seems to be showing up on the injury report more often. No offense to anyone who loves this guy, but he's not that special of a talent. Right RB, right blocking scheme. He's my most likely candidate to take a steep hard fall at the RB position over the next 2 years.

Alfred Morris. Just take my word for it and don't listen to the Elf. This guy is nothing special! 2 years from now he'll be drafted in the 5th rd of redrafts, and people will say "Man, remember when this guy was awesome, what happened?" See other flash in the pan players like DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews, Steve Slaton etc etc.

Honorable mention: Wes Welker and Andre Johnson

It is a ppr league and I have Ray Rice and Darren Sproles. I also should point out next year Johnson will cost me my 1st rd pick and Lynch will cost Mud a 16 rd pick

While this conversation probably belongs in the Fantasy Football Advice thread, I'd say this is borderline now. The diff in burning a 1st rd pick and a 16th rd pick is huge to me.

Okay lets see....

Agree on Lynch, as I see him gone in Seattle next year, and they have the future there already.
Agree on White, he is getting older, Julio is there already, caveat is Gonzo. If his age gets to him and he gets hurt, then White will last.
Gore, I have already sailed on him.
Rice, he is in that catogory for me as well, with Pierce there, and all the carries he has had...its just about time for the wheels to come off.
Jackson, sell high now. I do think this year he will be all that, but I also think ATL is frugal and will use him and abuse him and then let him ride off into the sunset and replace him.
Trent Richardson - yes he is young, but he keeps getting beat up...and they will run the hell out of him this year while he plays. Selling him mid-season for solid return may be best option.

Bradshaw - I think he will flash early, then start to tail off as season goes due to all off-season not working out. Could get a real steal of a deal there mid-season
